The book and its contents are in generally make clean, brilliant condition. There is some low-cal bumping to the spine ends of the book cover. The text pages are clean and bright. At that place is an inked previous possessor'southward proper noun on the front pastedown folio. "Riesenberg was built-in in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He subsequently attended the New York Nautical School graduating in the grade of 1897. Later, he secured a position as a deck officeholder in the merchant marine, beingness part of the Coast and Geodetic Survey and likewise serving in the Naval Reserve until 1909. Riesenberg was hired by Walter Wellman to be a role of the support coiffure in an unsuccessful attempt to accomplish the Northward Pole by balloon in the summer of 1906. Felix Riesenberg (9 April 1879 - 19 Nov 1939) was an American maritime officer and writer of maritime professional person, historical, and fictional literature. He attended the New York Nautical School graduating in the course of 1897. Afterward, he secured a position as a deck officer in the merchant marine, being part of the Coast and Geodetic Survey and besides serving in the Naval Reserve until 1909. Riesenberg was hired past Walter Wellman to exist a role of the support crew in an unsuccessful attempt to attain the North Pole by airship in the summer of 1906. Riesenberg published his memoir Living Again in 1937. Derived from a Kirkus review: Riesenberg has told the story of Greatcoat Horn from the days of Magellan'southward voyage, those who followed him and on downwards through the age of sail. Until the completion of the Panama Canal the only route to the Pacific from the Atlantic involved passage of Cape Horn, and then that all sailing ships weathered the Horn or left their basic to rot on its treacherous declension line. This is grand reading and deserves a prominent place with famous classics of the sea. Well documented, it is a fine source of information.
